Kennedy brings a life time of experience

Comets General Manager

The Beausejour Comets would like to officially welcome head coach, Troy Kennedy.

Kennedy has been coaching at various levels of hockey, both professional (player/coach) and amateur since 1993. His passion for teaching and passing on his knowledge of the game to young players is unparalleled.  He coached his son’s Tyson and Kody in hockey as well as countless other youths from minor hockey to AA and AAA. He has even helped minor hockey programs as far away as England, Texas and Louisiana.

Not only did Kennedy survive playing five full seasons in the Western Hockey League in the mid to late 80s, his talent and passion flourished as an undersized player at that time.  In 336 total games he put up a whopping 362 points as he played both forward and defence.  All that success lead to him being drafted 168th overall by the Calgary Flames in 1988. He went on to play over 14 years of pro hockey overseas and in the U.S, amassing over 1,200 points.

In 1989, Kennedy bought and ran Champion Hockey Schoolfrom Gord Lane and Craig Heisinger in Brandon. As spectacular as his playing career was, he has since made thousands of positive impacts with  young players helping them achieve their hockey and life goals.  There is no doubt that he will leave an impact on lives and hockey careers of Beausejour Comets' players.

The Beausejour Comets are extremely thrilled to have Troy, his wife Jodi, two son’s Tyson and Kody and daughter Madyson Kennedy as part of our hockey family.
